Custome Air Box

Im in the procces of bouilding a box for my intake on my 7mgte. I am buying the K&N kit, now whith this installed im going to take the right fog light out and make a velocity stack into the fog light which will run plastic pipeing into the stock air boxes location throught that little oval cut in the metal behind the headlingt, my thoughts are to match the right size piping into the box. im probably gona be using aluminum for the intakes pipe its self and wraping it whith dei exhaust wrap to keep the aluminum from heat soaking.

My main question is what material should i make the box, and the piping whith? i was thinking fiber glass for the box because it doesent absorbe heat like metals do, and aluminum for the intake pipe ( the black accoridan) wraped in dei wrap.

Im open to any better suggestions

Fiberglass works very well and is easier to shape but there's nothing wrong with metal if it's insulated.

im thinking fiberglass for the air box and the piping aluminum thats insulated just to make things easier

I'd skip the attempt at ram-air feeding the turbo... You may have problems with boost-creep.

what do you mean by ram air feeding the turbo? im leavign everything in stock location just building a box around the filter to keep heat out and using a pipe that feeds air into the box using the stock cut away in the frame

If effectively built it could pressurize the air box the higher the higher your speed.

so what do you recomend just to make the air box and not run a feed line into it from the outside?

You can put in a feed if you like, just build it so that it's simple to remove if you do suffer problems.
