intercooler question

i know the function of intercoolers but i need to replace my stock 7mgte one. from what i have heard and generaly seen a flow through desighn usualy has better performance than a same sided one like on 7mgte's for me it looks like it makes sence but i want to hear your opinion about this. leaning twords a treadstone same side intercooler since no fabing needed ( for the intercooler at least, not counting brackets, ect...)

I could always be wrong correct me if i am

An intercooler with opposing end-tanks is more efficient... even with a U pipe placed on one end to route the air back to the inlet side. This is because the pipe is larger, the curve smoother and there is less turbulence... thus there is a lower pressure drop across the IC than there is in a "Spearco" (Siamese or same-side end-tank) type IC. Of course most aftermarket "Spearco" ICs are still a huge step up from the stock IC and unless you're going for high HP they're often worth the lack of frustration.

speaking of fmics.....im about ready to upgrade to a larger one, and i have a group of friends who can all weld so im not really worried, but im curious on how big i can go?

yah thats what i was thinking but wasent shure, now are there any spearco intercoolers you would recomend ?

at most i will be in 500hp goal in the future , i was thinking treadstone they got one for 250$ what do you think cre

I have no idea, never used them. Do they publish spec sheets for their ICs? You'll want to know the pressure drop across the IC and some form of thermal conductivity or exchange efficiency data which you may use to compare to others. I don't know of many inexpensive manufacturers who provide all this info though; They generally just figure 'Hey, it's made in China for pennies, but it's still better than stock, so who cares? We both win!'

sounds like thats what everyones been doin latley lol.
this is the 250$ specs... or what they will give me, they say 1.5 drop which is considerable to stock http://www.treadstoneperformance.com...s++Intercooler

this is the Higher end model

i expect for both to be better than stock
