Remove Thermostat Housing
Hi i was replacing the thermostat but during installation the bottom bolt on the housing broke and is now the piece where the thermostat sits. Ive been trying to remove the housing but its not coming out. I took the bolt and nuts off. what am i missing? thanks

I take it you mean that you're trying to remove the thermostat neck/tower? There are three studs which hold it in place and then there are a terrible hose which connects to the bottom side. This may help: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar...spx?F=1603&P=2

The hose SHOULD slide out and the housing is slid out.... but that's seldom the case and is usually a pain any way you go about it. Half the time I just cut it off and replace it with a nice, new, flexible (not glued on) one. ;)

since we are on this subject of cooling systems . how do we burrp the system on our mkIII's my car seem's to be running cold sometimes when i pull into a light and just replaced radiator, water pump, thermostat, washed my heater core preetty clean too, flushed the hole system two times, but after i put in the antifreeze now in the top hose feel's like there is still a bubblle in the system?

I've never had to burp the system on a MKIII... I just fill the reservoir ALL the way, run the car until the engine is up to temp; Refill the reservoir ALL the way; let the engine cool; Fill the reservoir ALL the way again and just make sure the reservoir is completely full after every drive for a few heat cycles. Removing the brass jiggle valve will help air work it's way to the car and out through the reservoir.
If you feel you must burp the system the goal is to elevate the front end as much as possible while the engine is cool. Start the car and add water as the air in the system bubbles out. Make sure the A/C is off. When bubbles stop coming out turn it off (while still adding water/coolant) and put on the radiator cap. Fill the reservoir ALL the way. |

That online EPC may be a little dated, but the majority of part numbers are accurate... don't count on any of the pricing info and it doesn't tell you about availability either. If you click on the 5 or 6 digit number beside a part it'll take you to a page listing part numbers and which application they are for; Your local dealer or most parts stores should be able to reference the Toyota part number.
The 90? hose is 16283-42010. |

Wait, durafix? What part are you asking about? I thought you meant the hose... How's it damaged? You should be able to find a used replacement from someone in the classified ads section here or on one of the other Supra forums pretty easily.
