windshield
some nice person decided to throw a rock through my windshield so i was wondering how much a "new" windshield would run

Short of buying a new one, salvage yards. You'll need the proper tools (cutter and glass holders/pullers) and a friend to help.
|
I checked on safelite's web site and they give a price of less than 200. And the good part is the windshield will be new and free of any rock dings. If you look around you might even find it cheaper. I personally have gone through my comprehensive insurance and only paid 100 for the deductible.

Moldings
You will probably have to replace all of the moldings as well. At least the top, both sides and the upper corners as well. I'm not sure that the corners are still available from Toyota.

I had safelite do mine and they were able to reuse the moldings I think. It really helps if you get someone who has done it more than a few times.

The clips for the window trip are replaceable. For reasons I've listed before this is not always the best way to go though. I've also seen installations done using low profile weather stripping like you see on newer vehicles; This is preferable if the OEM weatherstrip cannot be replaced and is no longer providing an effective seal.

i appreciate the help guys
