This redefines word "bad" in bad compression.
Hi. Just want to make you all feel better about your cars.
I did compression test on 1987 Supra turbo (cold engine). Cylinder 1 - 100, 2 - 110, 3 - 125, 4 - 105, 5 - 100. And the winner is number 6 with a whooping 175. Oil added to 1st did not change it at all and I did not want to try the rest. I am getting ready to do a leak down test, but I am not sure how I can do it alone. Also want to take valve covers off to see if valves are even there. If any one has any suggestions please feel free, but do not make fun of this :) Thanks. |
Well at least those were kind of close, then comes number 6. Valve adjustments will make a large difference if they get pretty far off. Warm it up and try the test again. Turn it over about 6 to 7 times and record then, with the throttle open all the way. Leak down is fairly easy with the right stuff. Put it at top dead center, put it in gear and put the brake on and see how that goes.
How many miles are on the engine and is it a turbo or a tribble. Turbos are going to be low and tribbles just eat and eat..........sorry, no help there. The 175 has me concerned though. Could be a cam problem or that piston is coming out of the how further than the others and that can't be good. Curious to hear what you find out. Russ |
mm...cylinder 6 is a little crazy, might wanna try a comp test after you run it..but make sure the engine cools down...you dont wanna burn yourself, if its a high mileage motor you should expect at least one of the cylinders to be a little high, but if its that high...then u might have a problem
