Metal to Metal

I'm hearing this clanking sound everytime i hit a bump. I was thinking it was the front end bushings. Then when i turn the wheels i hear it but not at violent which leads me to think its the wheel bearings. I just replaced the rack and pinion so that eliminates some theories. I'm lost and have no clue what it could be.

Check out the ball joints, sounds like it could be one of those.

Did you replace that rack and pinion yourself? If you did, how hard was it? Any advice would be good, i'm getting ready to replace mine.

Easy job.....
Back to noise...possibly the struts (inside play).

No i had pep boys do it. My rack bushings were damaged to shite and the only place i could find them was at a dealership and they had to order it from the warehouse. So it took a few days.

I know u don't seem to interested to help me out but i'm gonna ask anyway. Is there anyway u can kinda sum up what u did first so it makes it easier on me, i'd appreciate it.

Make what easier on you? Which part are you refering to? Most don't mind helping at all, you just have to explain clearly what it is you need help with. Let us know.

OK.... I asked earlier if anyone replaced a rack and pinion on a mkIII, my question was: was it difficult? and if anyone has any pointers on how to make it easier(replacing the rack and pinion).
