What oil do you use on your supra
A budy of mine said to run 20w-50 that down here the heat can take a toll on my 7m turbo what do you guys use and suggest by the way Im located in an area with a temp of 112 most days

5W-30 Pennzoil Platinum is what I ran in the MKIII.
20W-50's pretty heavy; While it's not out of the question there are a number of factors you should consider. Keep in mind that ambient temp has little affect on the selection of oil weight.. Once warmed up your oil is going to be 180+ degrees regardless of whether you're driving in 110 degree weather or 60 (It would be more of a factor for a N/A which has no oil cooler.... I'd recommend upgrading yours though). I probably wouldn't run thicker than a 40wt and the cold weight is going to be of little matter to you but you probably want 10W or 20W. Whatever you choose, get it analyzed by Blackstone Labs or similar at your next oil change and that will help you determine if a different weight may be better suited to your needs. |
I would run a synthetic or synthetic blend it will do better with heat. I would stay with 10W30 or 10W40

its 90+ here in fl daily and i run 10w30 non synthetic but i also have an oil cooler thats 8"x15"x2" in direct air flow lol
|
hmm sorry im late to the party here.. but I feel a oil link coming on!
|
i use synthetic 10w30 and usually whichever is on sale, but i usually stick with castrol, valvoline or mobil 1.
|
in my car I really never deviate from either 10w-30 or 10w-40 depending which is on sale. In my moms car however I use 5w-20 in the summer and 10w-40 in the winter.
plus a little bit of lucus.. don't kill me! oil 101 thanks to our friends at supermania.. give it a read http://www.supramania.com/aehaas/ |
not sure about what oil, but
I add a qt of Lukas oil treatment. Watch your oil pressure gauge show the difference. Also use in trans. Had difficult time shifting from 1 to 2 in colder weather and it solved that problem, too.

iv alwayes used 10w-40 castorl edge syntec,i use to use 20w-50 but noticed a hudge diffrence between 20-50 and 10-40 i liked the performance of the 10-40 because the motor feels like it can move easier if that makes sence and ever since iv used 10-40

Not sure what the dealer puts in him, it is not worth my time to change my own oil.
