Silicone hose kit

So i was just wondering if anyone knows of a kit to replace most, if not all, of our factory hoses. I found this kit on ebay but im not really sure about the quality or how well they will work. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had experience with these kits and would like to help a guy out. Idk if its worth it but I would totally spend the money on it.

silicone is all you need to remember for vac hoses.
a link would of been helpful bro.

El Supracabras 08-04-2011 01:14 PM

You mean these?

It looks pretty damn cool. That looks like every hose and they're molded. Color options and free shipping too.....oh wait it's from china so it may be a few weeks. No complaints about the hoses in the feedback. Give it a try and let us know.

Grandavi 08-04-2011 03:18 PM

I did that.. but I wouldnt do it again..

I would just go to the auto store.. buy the silicone hoses (3 sizes are needed) and then cut to fit. My engine bay has them and although they are nice (I got red so they are easy to see), for what I paid... not worth it.. would have been farther ahead had I known that they were just silicone hoses that can be cut with a razor quite easily.

Now that I have my old ones all boxed, I could make a whole mess of precuts.. very easy.

Mind you.. I only did the vacuum lines. For the rest.. I intend to hardpipe wherever possible.. in my mind.. this is one of those areas you can "take your time" doing... I have found that my idea of "proper" changes each year.. lol.

just ordered a 21 piece hose kit for 230 bucks. All prebent to replace almost all of my factory hoses. Ill post on here and let u know how it goes

icey756 09-13-2011 02:14 AM

Hoses just came in today. They shipped from china so obviously it took forever. Didnt do much with it yet cause ill be out of town this week. Just kinda looked around and tried to identify where some would go. Confused about some of them but i might find out while im replacing the other ones. Wish me luck and I plan on posting a pic after im done. Should be easy to see as they are red. ;)

Sonyps307 09-13-2011 04:00 AM

I want the same kit just haven't ordered it yet. But I did the vacuum lines in red look nice but for the vacuum line I had to put zip ties on each end to keep from coming off.

icey756 09-13-2011 08:18 PM

i will be doing the same thing after this kit. You should have maybe gotten small metal clamps instead of zip ties. Looks more professional and you dont have to cut them to get the line off.

Sonyps307 09-13-2011 09:39 PM

I wanted to use clamps but I didn't know they made them that small. I can't wait intill u post pics of it. I'm really thinking about ording that kit.

Alright so right now im working on the intake portion of the install and I ran into a problem. The guy before me had a hole in the old intake plugged with some silver duct tape. Idiot. so with this new intake i dont want to use tape obviously so im just wondering what i can use to plug the hole. I would say its about half inch in diameter. I would use a plug but I wouldnt want it to to get blown out or something. Any ideas or anyone with experience in this would be great guys.

87hilux7mge 09-24-2011 05:27 AM

is it an actual hole that could be tapped? or a vacuum port? if its a vacuum port, just get vacuum caps from ur auto parts store of choice (a combo pack is only about 5 bux for like 20).

if its a hole, id tap it (remove intake) and put a plug in it.

is it in the plastic portion or aluminum? that would help in finding a way to fix it.

icey756 09-24-2011 11:52 PM

Im assuming that there should have been a tube there but when i bought the car there wasnt one on there at all. The hole on top of my air intake is basically blocked by the aftermarket BOV that the guy installed before me. All that it is is a hole in the intake that should have a metal piece in it so there is something to clamp on to. And im assuming that this pipe would get connected to the start of the intake mani. I've seen it in other pics

Awyman18 09-25-2011 01:12 PM

Jbweld followed by some red rtv. Only get red, or the one above but red rtv will work, or use some sillicone in a tube. But jb weld first, then cover it with red rtv. Should work fine

icey756 09-26-2011 04:27 AM

I don't think that i would trust jbweld on something like this. I would much rather just get some sort of plug. Thanks for the idea though. I just dont want to do that because there really is no going back ya kno

87hilux7mge 09-26-2011 05:00 AM

not that i dont trust it, but i dont think id ever put jb weld on/in my intake.

it may come down to buying or making a new piece for the intake...

icey756 09-26-2011 05:18 AM

i was thinking maybe something to act as a plug and then some type of sealer to go around it when i wedge it in?

El Supracabras 09-26-2011 11:45 AM

There is no pressure in the accordion hose to blow out a plug. Find a bolt that fits in the opening tightly and put a hose clamp on it to seal it. The reason you want that closed is because it will pull in un metered air that will mess with the a/f ratio.

thanks i will try the bolt. I was also wondering if anyone could help me identify what these hoses are and where they are located. i cant seem to find them. I thought i knew where one went but i dont think its right.

Awyman18 09-26-2011 09:18 PM

yea i too would never use jbweld or rtv but i mean thought i would suggest it :-D lol

icey756 09-27-2011 01:52 AM

Well from my prospective i would say it's kind of pointless to suggest doing something that u would never do to your car.

El Supracabras 09-27-2011 01:28 PM

Is that the kit from china? The hose quality doesn't look half bad in the pictures.
The inner diameter of the hose should help you find where it goes to. There are coolant hoses on the throttle body as well as the iac valve and turbo, see if any of those are a match.

icey756 09-27-2011 08:51 PM

Ok. I have to take off the whole intake basically to replace a hose in the back. I know 2 hoses that i wont be using because they were for to stock BOV.

Awyman18 09-27-2011 09:55 PM

hey just ideas, it never hurts but yea the hoses look decent

I am going to use a drain plug to plug the hole on the intake. I still can't figure out where two of the hoses go. Here some pics. Maybe someone will know.

Sonyps307 09-28-2011 11:47 PM

The little one look alike the one that goes to the bottom of the throttle body or the idle control valve.

icey756 09-29-2011 06:29 AM

Does this diagram show all the hoses that are used for coolant and such? Cause my kit came with 21 pieces. I hate being so close to done and not knowing where the other two go. lol.

icey756 10-17-2011 01:58 AM

alas i am finished. Actually i finished last week. I just got my silicon vacuum hoses and will start putting those in tomorrow. After that i will post some pics and tell how it went. And if anyone is interested i can post where i got the vacuum hose from and the silicon hose kit form as well.

Alright here's some pics of the silicon hose kit that replaced almost all of my coolant hoses. Also i did the red silicon vacuum lines too. I didnt buy a kit for the vacuum lines. I found a guide that gave me how many feet i would need of each inside diameter. All hoses seemed to be good quality to me. If anyone wants any info on them let me kno.

Sonyps307 10-22-2011 02:58 AM

Wow that's nice I can't wait to get mine kit

El Supracabras 10-22-2011 04:17 PM

Nice job on the install. The new hoses look like they fit well. Clean engine bay for a wisconsin car too.
Do you have a link to where you purchased this set?
The youngest 7m being 20 years old and the fact that there are so many hoses on the 7m, I like the idea of buying a set since buying each of these hoses would probably add up to the same cost or more if you can even find all of them available.

Thats the hose kit. You can get it in red and black it says, but if you look around enough you can find it in blue. Theres also a kit that will include some things for the stock intercooler i think. The vacuum hoses i got from here. http://www.boostcontroller.com/index.php?category=8
Here is a guide also on all the vacuum hoses on the car. It also gives you the lengths you need.
http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/TechTips/vacuum_hose.aspx
In total the vacuum hoses cost me about 60 dollars because i bought extra hose. The kit from ebay cost me 230 dollars. Also i would pick up a container of zip ties form you local hard wear store. I bought one for 10 bucks and used the smallest zip ties on ALL of my vacuum hoses, with the exception of clamps on some.

iaincrooky 10-28-2011 06:18 PM

Hey they look. I was wondering where you got the hose kit from.
Thanks

icey756 10-29-2011 02:29 AM

Are you still wondering or did u find the link above? lol
