7MGE bore and stroker vs 2JZ
I have a 1989 supra targa with 47,000 miles on it and I was wondering what would be a batter way to got, I have a 7MGE so either. Bore it like 30 or 40 over and stroke it with a turbo, or just buy a 2jz?
|
Well the company the has the stroker Kit said that the turboed one putS down 320hp that's how much a 2jzgtte has stock. But the 2jz is a way better motor and can take more hp.

The 2jz is a far smarter way to go. I can't say for sure but I think the stroked 7mge will be more expensive and less reliable than a 2jz. The 2jz is a very good motor but will still cost you a few thousand to do the swap and even more if you have to pay someone.

the stroked 7m is a nightmare as far as ive read and seen. only a couple have ran, and the results were less than adequate. you have to do alot of machine work to the block and either use shorter rods or custom pistons. if you buy the kit its easier, but its also 3k.
a 2jz is a much more reliable and easy to work with platform. making power with it will be easy. not to say a 7m is a bad motor at all, but the 2jz is a newer and more refined platform. if i ever get the money, id put one in my truck over the 7m. |
Thanks guys, what about the 2JZ, also ii found one in ebay for arounf 2500 with a tranny its manual and mmy car iis auto how hard is the change

there are several swap threads on here and other forums. search for 2JZ swap and you should find some good info. if you dont find your answers that way, google "2jz swap into mkIII"
that should point you in the right direction, including anyone on here with first hand experience.:bigthumb: |
