hey i got a 87 7m gte whith 5 speed and limited slip. I have put on a 3 1/2 inch exsaust on it ( full system from turbo on down) it has no restrictions no cats. are there any other cheap upgrades out there? my local junk yard has 4 supras from which to take parts from all non turbo and automatic
give any tips if you have any |
Manual boost controller
you could also put a MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER on your supra like this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBO...Q5fAccessories

FOR ever 1 psi you boost is 11hp dont go over 11psi on your supra it cuts the fuel off i would goo 10 or 11 psi

I know that the stock seting is a max of 6.5 psi, if i ramp it up to 8 or 10 you think i should invest into a good blow off valve. i am just looking for the equipment that i need befor i compleatly retune my computer ( cam gears ,shafts, greddy intercoler, aluminum pipeing, and a new turbo) right now im just covering the small bases first

as far as i know, a 7mgte does not require a BOV, as the KVAFM is b4 the turbo, and venting excess boost to the atmosphere would throw off A/F ratio. but im not extremely well versed with GTE's.
if it were running a MAP or MAF system, that would be another story, as those sensors are after the turbo, and can vent to the atmosphere while still receiving the correct air volume signal. if you get a recirculating system for your BOV, it would be possible to run it, but pretty pointless, as the system is designed to work without one. someone else more versed with turbo apps can prolly shed more light, but this is my .02. |

That's partially true. The 7MGTE runs a BPV in place of a BOV, so excess pressure is already being rerouted into the intake system (after the KVAFM). I would suggest upgrading the OEM valve though as it is likely original (20+ years old). Also, many aftermarket valves are less likely to leak boost pressure prior to opening the valve |
there ya go. similar to the supercharger systems on pontiacs etc. long as it works!
