lower control arm

hey guys so i was out the other day f'n around in an empty parking lot (wearing my seatbelt ofcourse) =P.. and i hit the curb pretty hard so now i have to replace the front driver side lower control arm for sure (its bent) and the spindle just for safe measures.. i was wondering if anybody had a diagram for this operation and knows what tools im going to need.. its a fairly easy fix but just need a guide to look at.. much appreciated!! thanks!!

first off, fail, lol. second off, get urself a haynes manual, all described in detail in there, with pictures! ive got mine in front of me and its got a whole section on it.

the only special tools u should need are a dead blow hammer id think. ur standard wrenches, ratchets and sockets should be good. maybe a spring compressor set.

You are going to need an alignment as well. More likely than not there is more damage than just the control arm. Going "cheap" on this will cost you more than just the alignment costs.
Do try and be careful when "drifting", my friend totaled his firechicken doing this.

My niece over the winter slid her 94 celica into a curb, bending the lower control arm pretty bad. My brother and I put on a new control arm and a few other parts since it is front wheel drive and had the car aligned to make it drive well again. The supra suspension does seem to be more robust, so as long as it was not too hard of a hit there is hope of getting away with a relatively small bill if you do the work yourself.

yes forgot to mention the alignment. any time you change a suspension component you need to at least have the alignment checked. and do not go to a place that offers just front wheel alignments. you need to have all 4 wheels aligned with each other.

i always assume the alignment is second nature...damn me working in an auto shop for 2 years

alignments usually run about 60-80 bux just for adjustment, but if they have to replace any parts, the price goes up. just make sure you replace all the necessary parts yourself and your bill will be minimal.

The alignment is the only thing I would go to a dealer for. Tried a few independent shopa around me and they never got it right. Dealer hit the spot first time! @$100.

100 bux is spendy damn! 80 bux is the most ive ever spent for a warranted alignment. but i guess the dealer is ok. u just want a national shop that will honor their warranty basically.
