targa top on turbo models

Hello, I tried a search on the forum and couldn't really find the answer. Been googling for a while and asking local Supra owners and have come to no conclusion.

Do they make an MKIII Supra Turbo without a targa top, just a straight hard top model?

Oh why do you want to know? It is real nice to take off the Targa top on a nice spring or fall day :) Since I am not into racing do not need the extra support of a "straight top".

Yeah. Who needs support? I love the feeling when I POP the top, except for the limp noodle feeling. I'm gonna build a brace to fix that.

Yes they do make non targa turbo models.

Am wondering if a brace could be made to fit under the car? Do not like that feeling as well but do not want to block the top.

Thanks a bunch guys! I have been in love with MKIII, and IV's for since I drove a 97 Turbo. I am now in the market for a nice MKIII but I don't know all of the different options for these vehicles just yet.

I feel impotent in a car without a hard top; I'm sure that feeling of standing in front of an industrial fan is nice but I don't care much for open ceilings.

I feel the opposite to you in this, then again use to drive a Sportster in my younger years. There is something about taking off the top and cruising. Of course if you leave the top at home the chance of rain increases the further one gets from home :)

The only MKIII Supra`s available from new in the UK where fixed hard tops 7M-GE & 7M-GTE, the only targa tops are 2,0 2.5 & 3.0 JDM imports which probably total less than a couple of dozen. Are you saying the USDM are mostly targa tops?

love the targa's

I have to agree wit Ranma on this, i love the option of seeing the roof or taking it off whenever i feel like. and if the place you live has like dark smog clouds year round then it would be different but really its an option.

In my experience, it depends on your location. Here in California, most MKIII's I see are Targa (N/A's and Turbo's). Back when I was living in Montana, I only saw a couple Targa's (granted, there were less Supra's up there to begin with)

Craigslist, Carfinder, Autofinder, ect.. have nothing but Targa Tops. After searching for several weeks now I have successfully found 2 Toyota Supra Turbo's with hard tops, probably 1,000 different supras with targa's. I search every state including Guam. And I am pretty sure one of the hard tops I found is just a N/A turbo clone.
