This winter I decided to replace my head gasket. After I removed the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and timing belt related components, I realized that the head gasket had already been replaced (a metal head gasket with ARP studs). While I had everything apart, I replaced the timing belt and related components. In addition, I decided to do a knock sensor rewire, even though I wasn't having any problems with the knock sensor. After reassembling everything, my check engine light now comes on every time I accelerate past 1/4 throttle. If I shut off the car and start it again, the check again light will not turn back on until I accelerate. I keep getting code 52 (for the knock sensor).
I did notice after I finished that I used the wrong wire for the rewire. I used a solid core wire. I'm wondering if it's possible that i have bad knock sensors or that the solid core wire broke somewhere. i plan on checking the wire from the ecu pin to the knock sensor connector. Is it possible to have a bad knock sensor with out the CEL being on, due to faulty wiring and now that the wiring is good the CEL comes on? |
