Dual vvti into mk3 supra HELP!
How hard will it be to get a 05 dual vvti 2jz-ge running in my mk3 supra?...can i use the standard ecu? or will i need a mega dollar link? Or can I get all the dash interior loom n guages and use them to?
|
I really don't think it would be worth the effort for 20 more hp. The 2jzge is rated at 220 versus the 7mge at 200. The VVTI(variable valve timing with intelligence) is more for gas milage then anything.
|
Yeah I am after best millage, I have a bare shell originally 1g-gte, (GA70H) so is widebody. I want a good tow car with beast possible economy. I can get a under 100,000k dual vvti engine cheaper than a 1jz.

I don't know for sure but you would most likely have to do some work to the wiring harness to make it work. You are towing with it?
|
Yes, I have a project car...you know the life long project of our dream car LOL ( A 1972 XA Ford Falcon Coupe)... similar to the torino.
Hmmm, the dual vvti cars have more complicated computers and built in immobilsers,,,some you even have to have the factory key for the car to not be immobilised..... How many liters per 100k do you get in you 7M-GE? |
I don't know about liters since the US still uses the english system. Mine is an auto, but with a 5 speed you should get high teens in the city and low twenties on the highway(Miles). The 7mge will be OBD I and the 2jz will be OBD II which will make it more complicated. Is gas very expensive there? But anyway you look at it the mk3 supra will still be a heavy car making the mpg drop.
So you want to tow the ford with the supra? Because that seems like alot of weight for a sports car that is not meant for towing. |

If ur after power alone then prob not worth time! Cuz it does not drop right in. But if ur after reliability the the jz is def. the way to go. As far as the swap itself u will need a 1jz oil pan about $500 and a US spec harness if it is a jdm jz. And depending on the year of ur mkiii u may need custom mounts. At about $250. Plus always add about $500 to the build for misc stuff that comes up. Hopefully the engine has ecu, igniter, map sensor, and all other goodies with it or it wil cost quite a bit more. If u are planning on throwing a turbo on the ge eventually then for sure go with the jz. And u will have a reliable beast! Wiring is not that hard to do if u kno how to solder and read a wire diagram. a total of 4 plugs and about 20 wires roughly is all is needed but it won't plug right in. |
His car is an RHD 1JZ chassis Travis.
I've heard more consistent higher mileage reports from 1JZ owners than 2JZ-GE... the N/A's often get lower mileage. |
Sweet, got me a vvti 2JZ-GE from a gs300 (with altezza and GS300 looms) and a 2nd gen w58 and a brass button clutch for $2200 USD :D, just need to find rear sump and a rear position shifter..has remote shift atm.
