I've bought a few things from Driftmotion and the quality is good.

I bought it, pretty nice set-up. Direct bolt in, there's an extra pipe and I didnt use the bar they sent. The bov is a flutter type and it does sound sick. lol

A "flutter type"? Huh? You mean you've got compressor surge due to too tight of a spring?

Conga1991 03-13-2011 09:56 PM

No, the sound it makes is a Flutter. Not sure what the exact term for it is called.

It's called compressor surge... look it up. It's not going to hurt anything it it's only doing it at low boost levels and the turbo's in good shape... on an older or otherwise hurting turbo the spring should be changed or the adjustment screw on the back should be adjusted... if it has one.

Search "fluttering BOV" or "flutter type BOV" or "BOV flutters" and you'll get thousands of hits from forums, blogs, online magazines all talking about proper BOV tuning, what the sound is, what it indicates and it's affect on the turbo. Simply though, it happens because the BOV isn't opening until close to your boost level, so it keeps opening and then slapping shut causing oscillations in the system.... in other words, it's not doing it's job and venting the pressure quickly. It's argued to be worse than running without a BOV but I'm on the wall about that.

@@CONGA1991 hey can you post a video of the bov??

Conga1991 03-15-2011 04:48 PM

Sure thing, Ill post it up later tonight after I get all the oil out of the spark plug galley. I hate it when I forget to tighten a bolt on the cam covers :/ so much oil everywhere.

Also I know theres a thread on here of a guy posting pics of the installation on here, no video though. The installation is pretty straight forward and worth the money, in my opinion since im only 19 and only have a part-time job.

Wtf? It doesnt make a flutter sound when it is working properly.

I have the cx racing intercooler but they use the same hks replica bov! I've got it behind a 60-1 driftmotion turbo and i assure u its not a flutter sound.

I'm not a huge fan of the this bov to be honest! The stock 1jz sounded ten times better. It's really quite with a slight whistle. As compared to a quick psssshhhh. And thats at 14psi! But it comes free with the kit! the kit itself is awesome my buddy with a 2j swap is running it with a real hks and couldn't be happier. He upgraded to 4 row intercooler for I believe 40 bucks more! Really nice kit though!

And as far as driftmotion themselves I highly recommend them! Great customer service if ever needed Aaron is a great guy! I just ordered a Walbro drop in kit for 100 bucks shipped!
