Exhaust System for 7MGE

Im looking for a complete exhaust system for my 90 supra. I know about the pacesetter and have read some good reviews, but Im just not sold that its gonna give me much more power (considering it cost like 250). I dont want to waste my money because A1Cs in the AF dont get paid much lol.

There is no exhaust system that's going to give any significant increase in power for the 7M-GE.... even if you gained a whopping 10% (which it won't) that's only 20HP and that's at the crank. :P It's a pretty ribbon on a pig, really... something to do to finish out after the bigger mods (which never made much difference either).

Yeah I think Im just going to put a 7M-GTE in it then I mean I want a car I can actually get to around 350 HP. The W-58 transmission will bolt up to the GTE wont it?

You won't get 350 out of the GE... It's just not a good engine for an all motor build.

The W58 will bolt up, you'll need to keep the GE's flywheel. I wouldn't recommend the W58 if you plan on exceeding 400RWHP, like launching aggressively or frequently or if it's in less than great shape.

thank you i been looking all night and i couldnt seem to find the answer lol... I dont think Ill go over 350hp though... Honestly Im just trying to keep up with my buddy's 07 Z... hes got it at about 330hp right now

Also if I do the 7MGTE swap will I need to replace the ECU and get new wiring harnesses? Because Ive been looking at all the JDM 7MGTEs and none of the packages have offered the ECU or wiring harnesses... sorry I dont know much about modding thank you for your help

Yes, you'll need the wiring harness and the ECU. There will be some other work you'll need to do as well and you may also need to replace the portion of the chassis harness which runs along the driver's side fender... I can't recall if the injector resistor pack (which the 89+ non-turbos don't have wiring for) is on the engine harness or the chassis harness.

You'll also need a drive shaft for the GTE's R154 transmission (if you swap the transmission). A stronger fuel pump, oil cooler (I recommend a custom full flow setup over the stock setup). It'll be a little easier for you if you get an '89 or newer engine as a number of things have changed between '88 and '89.

Look through the FAQ and search the board, this has been discussed very in depth many times before.
