Stock BOV Test?
I'm tearing apart my supra and replacing pips and a assload of other things, any one know how to test if the BOV is functioning properly?
|
On the 7m it is actually a bypass valve (bpv) If you can blow through it, its toast. The bosch bpv is the best replacement they came out of saabs. I have an extra one, or you can get them off eBay or driftmotion has them!

Yeah you can defiantly blow through mine. effff.

Well if you hear a flutter around full boost it's either not adjusted properly or it's not working properly....Now it's very uncommon for a piston type bov to go bad....I guess you could check the piston movement make sure it's functioning properly. You could also inspect the spring. My guess is your bov is fine may need adjusted depending on what bov you are using.

7m bpv go out quite often infact on both of my 7m I ever owned they both went bad. stock bpv cannot be adjusted.
Here is some good reading! http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/...to-intake.html |
My stock BOV on my MKIII went bad
My stock BOV on my MKIII went bad so I took it apart, found sludge built up.... Cleaned it up, put it back together again and sealed it, now it works like new... :)

:eek3: If you have anything besides the thinnest film of oil (from the PCV system) then you've got bigger problems... see: excessive blow-by/bad rings and blown turbo oil seal.
