can I drop a turbo engine into a 86 non turbo
Are there any issues with dropping a 7MGTE turbo engine into a 86.5 non turbo?
Wiring harness? Vaccuum lines? Thanks, Bill |
Well, you'll need to swap in a GTE oil cooler setup or install a full flow oil cooler (MUCH better, the stock GTE setup is crap). You'll also need to swap in the GTE electronics (ECU, air flow meter, coil packs, wire harness, etc.). The GTE came mated with a different transmission than the N/A, it you want to swap that in too you'll at least need to swap the front half of the drive shaft. The N/A also has a lower end gear... if you're looking for a smoother ride you'll want to swap in either a 3.91 or a 3.73 from a turbo model. You'll need the speedo drive gear for which ever diff you choose to match with the transmission or your speedometer and odometer will be off.

ROFL!!! Well, I'm here to help.
If he decides down the road that he really has to have a turbo he's bettor off with a swap than adding a turbo to the N/A. |
