Want it quiet

My Supra is just too noisy for me. Yea it impressed the kiddies but I have police following me around.
Some jerk replaced the exhaust manifold and took out the cat. I wonder if he did something to the muffler?
I do not race but like a car that can perform. Taking off the roof on a nice day is my ideal of bless, however he is too loud.
Any ideals?

You could always go back to the stock exhaust im sure plenty of people have them around that will sell it cheap.

I put this Hks on my NA. I know it is 3in but I really don't notice any power loss with the auto. But it has a nice low rumble and looks alot like factory. I don't like anything that looks like a fart can.

The less noisy he is the happier I am. Having tinnitus from my military service loud noises are bothersome. I like the ideal of a ride that can kick ass but not sound like it. Loud noise is for children and getting tickets.
I want the most quiet system with the loss of the least amount of horsepower.
I need an exhaust manifold, new cat with the plumbing, I looked over the diagrams and they seem wrong for my car.
Oh I have 2 buttons on the left side of my steering wheel. What could they control?

you can get a high performance cat from hks.

Do you know what header you have on it now?

Ranma 01-19-2011 02:57 PM

No I will take a picture and post it. Cars are my hobby and am not an expert on them.

What about the sound? High noise bothers me so much.

Install some dynomat stuff in the rear hatch area that should help with some of the noise and is easy to do since no uphosltry has to be removed

Green7mgte 01-20-2011 12:52 AM

if anything it should be quieter w/o hampering performance. or you could install a regular one.
might wanna check your resonator also. thats were allot of the sound gets dampened.

Replace the cat. That's probably about 1/3 of the extra noise right there. No, the cat's not going to make it higher... lower if anything, but less... well, ricer Honda Civic farty.

If you want good power from a SLIGHTLY better than factory setup you could go with something similar to my last one: High flow cat, 2.5" piping with as few bends as possible, AeroTurbine 2.5" resonator, Borla Pro XS muffler (single outlet). If you want to knock it down a little bit more go with the dual tip version of the muffler OR go with the single outlet and add a "Y" pipe with the tips on there as the outlet. The Y pulls the volume down further.

im a fan of the duel tips.

its crazy to realize that everything you see was designed to function and serve a certain purpose. from the design of the pen on my desk to the duel tips on the exhaust and the bench seats at taco bell.

intense.
to touch on the taco bell bench seats. they were designed to restrict blood flow to your legs while your sitting. making your legs uncomfortable and fall asleep. meaning you will get up and leave faster.
dick heads.

update

Put the new exhaust on him and he is quiet. Though he does sound a bit like a sewing machine now ;) Having tinnitus loud is not a good thing. At least now I can drive without attracting police.
As I said do not need a lot of power for my driving but like a fun car to drive *grins* I still need the chrome extensions and the heat shield for the exhaust manifold. I will leave it to you guys to drive the heavy hp stuff.
