This thread is insane.... OP check the diagnostic system and post ANY diagnostic codes that are present. Some photos of the motor mounts and the areas where smoke was coming from would be a good addition as well. Does your speedometer still work?
|
thanks for the information.. this is definitely a good excuse for my swap! However im up at school for the time being and the supra is just resting at home. Now one other question rebuild 7mgte or 1jz??

Found problem...
So I need a new tranny... Of course I figured that already. However Philadelphia is kind of short on good supra parts, so does anyone know where I can get a tranny.
Its a 1990 toyota supra turbo 7m-gte. I need a auto tranny with ABS. |
This thread's still nuts...
First off, 240HP, not stock.... :P Second; How have you determined everything has moved? Have you actually inspected the motor mounts? The transmission support will also have to have ripped free or been SIGNIFICANTLY distorted... have you checked this? Third; Has the shifter physically moved? Do the top and bottom shifter locations still line up? Fourth; The motor physically shifting forward isn't going to cause smoke at the throttle body, so either you blew up the transmission in a AMAZING fashion or put a hole through the block somewhere. For it to move far enough to cause a serious short to ground in the wiring harness the engine would really have to move much further then there's room for. Fifth; This didn't/couldn't happen from manually shifting an automatic transmission (not the kind of damage you're describing)... so how'd you wreck it and what REALLY happened? Did you diagnose this any further and find more out or are you still assuming that the entire drive train has broken free? |
bit of thread necromancy here, sorry but I'm interested as to what happened with this..... Oh, CRE I could swear I read somewhere later GTE lumps ran 242??? :dunno:
