any good?

hard to install?

i purchased the same one. but never installed it. It shipped to me fine.
better off saving your money for an electronic. as for installing it wherever you like, you have to ask if an additional 2 or 3 ft of vacuum hose is going to affect anything.

It's a hybrid or dual valve... they're pretty hard to screw up. I'd just build my own... oh wait. :P (see the link below)

I recommend against running it in the engine bay. Boost controllers should not be installed in any way that adds significantly to the volume of the signal line (10 feet of extra vacuum hose causes a lag in responsiveness and provides a LOT of area for a leak). Install it under the hood, tune it for the desired boost, mark it and if you want a second stage tune for that and mark it. I've seen some people make in cabin controls using aircraft cable and a worm gear type setup on top of the boost controller... You can also setup a dual pressure system using the type of blow off valve you show with a little modification and a spare 12v vacuum solenoid.

http://www.gusmahon.org/html/boostcontrol.htm The third one explains how this type works.

Green7mgte 12-11-2010 02:56 AM

bump... wtf?
guess its a "make a note for the future." type post then.

cps cost 520 dollars? id just re furbish it , so to speak.

600, thats alot. I'd try to get a used one or search the junkyards. But if you want a new toyota one, magauto has it for 486.55.

No, it's the classic:

My car's busted, and nothing's running right and I can't really afford to fix it, but I'm going to throw every possible nickle mod I can think of at it to see just how much it takes to break everything else.

type of story... just grin and answer the questions.

It's pretty uncommon that they fail so lack of demand has just as much affect on price. I'd get a used one and in the worst case swap pickups between the two for one good unit long before I bought a new one... hell you can even use a N/A distributor without the rotor and cap.

I really dont want to buy one and it breaks again
i have to jiggle my cps wire each time i go to start my car
so im going to buy one from stealership :/
