Oil Filters

I found this by accident but found it very intresting to see. And thought many of you would like to know what is in the oil filter you install.

I think this deserves a sticky or at least moved to the FAQ section.

The site is cool and all, but I have to ask... What does this even tell us? A visual inspection of the filter element doesn't really say anything about the efficiency of the filter, just that most of the filters share similar construction.

My guess it would be just cost vs design....

But most of the time when i change my oil, i just buy the 15.99 special on for that week

unless anyone has a microscope for eyes, you are not going to be able to see the small micron-sized differences in the filter elements. also, for anyone who freaks about those cardboard discs at each end of the filter element, they do nothing to add integrity to the oil filter , even when made of metal.

I also found this demo of how the Falex test is not a good test at all for oil:
