There's definitely the possibility of a boost leak, unfortunately ANY hose can be a suspect hose. Just idle the car and listen around the engine bay, if you hear any air being sucked in besides at the air filter, there's a vacuum/boost leak.
You should really do away with the wastegate shims. Although it's easy and cheap, you put more stress on your wastegate. You can build a MBC easily (and more importantly, cheaply). That way you can adjust your boost as needed without unnecessarily adding more stress to other components.
