1J starter
soooo, i fried my starter motor today, aaaand my friend has a 1j starter off of a '94 supra. will this work for my '89 supra?
and also, how hard is it to replace the starter on the motor? thanks |
if its off a 94, its a 2jz starter. you would have to compare the 2 side by side. as the 1jz wasnt offered in north america i cant look it up on interchange
|
i see.
i'll look at the two and compare. if the bolts line up and whatnot, can it bee used? |
ok it should fit. after a google search the 7m, 1jz and 2jz use the same starter. the difference is the older 7m starters aren't threaded, so a nut and bolt need to be used.
|
soooo, today i used the 2j starter aaaaand my whole car shorted. nothing turned on and on top of that ruined my batt. how lame -__- |
oh no! that sucks big time
did you bench test the starter? |
no, i didnt. i didnt think about till after the car shorted and then i decided to look at the TSRM lol
today i'm going to go and get a legit starter that shouldnt have any problems so i'm going to cross my fingers and hope it works |
hopefully! but always a good idea when getting a used starter is a bench test. its better to melt a set of jumper cables than your cars wireing if its gimped
|
well, thank you guys for all your help! i baught and installed a 2jz starter and it works perfectly. starts better than before the 1j on started acting funny. lol
if you guys can, i'm starting a new thread on a few more things i need to take care of, check them out please |
