Cost to have Blown Head Gasket replaced Correctly?

I know it's been discussed here several times somewhere but I've looked and can not find it so any help would be appreciated.
I just picked up a 87 Supra, 5 speed, 7M-GE with a blown head gasket for my 16YO son as his first car. I figured worse case it would be a winter project for us.I have always loved these cars. Back when I was a young teen my aunt had a brown and black (I think it was an 86.5) but with the exception of 1 300zx I have never stepped out on GM or Ford before. (Oh Yea and a Yamaha) Anyway a young man at work gave me the car for 1 bill. The car is probably a 3 out of 10. with no rips in the interior. It will need a new dash or good cover and 1 fender will need replace or repair. With the exception of the obvious the engine started easily and ran smoothly. I only ran it long enough to move it about 150 yards to load it on my trailer which is where it still sits.
Finally, my question is what should it cost to have the engine done right. replace HG test and resurface head if needed and replace timing belt, water pump if there are no surprises. I would prefer to have it done at a shop but depending on cost may have to it myself. Sorry to be long winded.

hey man , if you have the tools , space and time why not doing it your self? as soon i get to my home from deployment thats my deal , replace the head gasket "its not blown" but i will upgrade parts for the engine. One important question , are you sure the car is for your son or thats just the cover up:dance:. my son its 14 and he already ask me if he can keep it for school and collage :help:. hope to see pictures soon and think about it, it can be the father and son project for winter. GOOD LUCK

if you do it yourslef around 400-600 bucks for head alone (im in canada so may be cheaper down in the usa) since all you need is the gasket set and a machine shop to plane the head. if the head need anymore work than a resurface it can get pricey. normally the block doest need the resurface as cast is alot harder to warp than aluminum. just clean it really well

hope you to enjoy the project!! and hope to see pics soon!!
