vaccume leak

Alright, i am totally stuck on this. What is the easiest way to find a vaccume leak in a gte motor. i cant pass emisions until i fix it and thats what they say the problem is. Also is there any way to lean out the fuel and air because i failed that test too because they say that my car is running to rich. I have like seven days to fix it becfore my license is suspended. Please help!

get some carby cleaner/engine start

spray everywhere on your intercooler pipes and intake manifold and vacuum lines.. everywhere like that

when you spray somewhere and your idle goes up then you have found your leak :)

are you throwing some codes ?
check engine light going off for a little bit .
i slipped into running very rich a few months ago , it turned out to be vsv switches located under the intake one is for egr and the other for fuel . they are easy to test but hard to get to . you'll see under the intake a mess of small black hoses going to and from two brown and black little things about 2.5 inches or so
see here: http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/librar...10/1708_3.html
part# 25860 and 17650 the EGR is # 25860 just check for continuity . zero = toast .

i use an air/fuel gauge so it's very easy to spot variances in the mixure from screwing around with mods .
i am not saying this is your problem it's just another option to try .

another option is to adjust the base idle screw
what does it idle at now ?

my tach doesnt work yet because i motor swapped so if i had to guess i would say it is idling around 500. and yes my engine light comes on intermintently. where is that air fuel adjust screw you were talking about?

the base idle screw is NOT an "air fuel adj. " screw . it simply raises your idle by means of slightly opening your throttle plate.(not suggested)its safe to say you have problems somewhere else.and to answer another question of yours a vacuum leak will cause a lean condition..

More than likely it's a boost leak, in other words a leak anywhere after the turbo. That's a lot of pipes, and a lot to check, but it's not too hard to find. You can make a PVC pipe with a cap on it that will fit in the intake so you cna pressurize the system with the car off and listen for leaks. If you can hear it but can't find em, use the old trick they use on tires, soapy water sprayed in the general area with bubble up with the leak.

If it's not this...if could be leaky injectors, but the pipes on the intercooler, ect go out sooner, so it's a safe bet that's where the problem is...
