JIS is where I got my complete gasket set for my rebuild nice set it came with a metal headgasket to

johnvin 10-13-2010 06:02 PM

ok sweet so its worth it then ? i would be getting the whole kit the pistons and everything for it

I paid that much just for the felpro head gasket kit I used. I would not mess around with something as important as engine internals. Make sure you are not gettng something made in china.

ok i wont thanks for the tip bro! well i took off the oil filter and there was not any oil in there so maybe its the oil pump. but the wird thing is that i took out the dip stick and there was oil in there

907mge 10-16-2010 10:19 PM

The oil filter is much higher up on the block

johnvin 10-18-2010 01:20 PM

so it would not be the oil pump
then ?

907mge 10-19-2010 01:08 AM

No oil at all?

Sonyps307 10-19-2010 01:48 AM

I just changed my oil and filter when I drianed it then change the filter it just had a little bit of oil in it unlike some cars oil comes pouring out the oil filter I guess it drains out And my motor is just rebuild with no leaks and new oil pump

907mge 10-19-2010 02:06 AM

The filter is high on the block and on its side it should drain fairly quick. As long as the filter has oil in it it should be fine.

Sonyps307 10-19-2010 02:12 AM

Unless it's a turbo and it has that 90 degree thing and screws in the bottom

907mge 10-19-2010 02:22 AM

Did not know we where talking about the gte. So in that case you should have more oil in it than you state. What does your oil pressure gage read?

Sonyps307 10-19-2010 02:30 AM

I don't know if it's the ge or gte he never stated I'm just guessing

907mge 10-19-2010 02:41 AM

:confused:What are we talking about ? I am so confused:confused:

Sonyps307 10-19-2010 02:58 AM

I'm not the guy with this problem I was trying to help

johnvin 10-19-2010 01:23 PM

ya bro same here there was no oil in there at all like one of you guys had said it must just drain back down in to the block because its located up so high.
i was told that it might be the rod bearings that might be making that really loud knocking noise when it runs ?

johnvin 10-19-2010 01:25 PM

well its an 88 non turbo 7mg 24valve 3000,

Sonyps307 10-19-2010 02:32 PM

Mine had the rod bear knock before I rebuild it but it only knocked between 2500-3000 RPMs and it idle great

johnvin 10-21-2010 01:25 PM

when i start mine it knocks REALLY loud when it idils and even when you give it gas

907mge 10-21-2010 02:36 PM

Can you post a video? THat would help a lot.

johnvin 10-22-2010 01:19 PM
