New owner problems: Interior lights, Leaky trunk

I have a 1986.5 Supra, 7MGE. As several other people on this forum, my dome light did not work when I bought my car. I searched the forums and found a fix (rivets loose). The lights now work then I push the buttons, but not when I open the doors. Also, strangely, the light around the ignition and bellow the steering wheel used to work when the door opened and after I "fixed" the dome light they no longer turn on. The little red lights on the doors still turn on however. Any suggestions?

Also, when it rains the wheel well for the spare tire fills with water. I checked the weather stripping around the lift back is good. Any places these cars regularly leak?

Any advice on maintenance or good modification I should do? The car has 150k miles. The head gasket, I believe, is good. I've already cleaned the air filter (k&N), and throttle body. Replaced the spark plugs, fixed the leaky oil plugs (throw away the #3 cylinder gasket and used RTV) and the timing belt.

Thanks a lot.

Definitely brakelights.. especially if you see condensation in them after rain. I just did mine this weekend. they arent that difficult, but I did have to remove the panels a bit because I had trouble reaching 2 of the nuts. While you are doing the brakelight gaskets... pop off the white panel that holds the lights and make sure that the screw holding the ground is tight. Mine was backed off about 2 turns. (was causing my tail lights to flicker)

about the light on the dash , use a tester and verify the cable using both of them. it should work. if not , removed the one from the negative and place it on another ground and check , if it works , check the sensors on the doors or that job that you did on the dome light , check if theres a loose cable around it. it might came off when you pull it out to fix it. Good luck. Q
