Coolant leak
 

The other day I noticed a small puddle of coolant under my car but I had to run to class, so I momentarily dismissed it. Later on, after driving and parking I looked under the car, no puddle. Went back several minutes later, no puddle, so I thought it was someone else who had left that puddle. Days later, there's the puddle again! I noticed I had lost coolant so I then knew for a fact it was me.

So I decided to see where it was coming from; I assumed it was the lower hose but realized it was too far away from the hose, so I followed the dripping coolant back to its source: it's some small hose I never knew existed! In fact, I could barely even see it, so I stuck my camera underneath next to the manifold (I think?) and pointed it upwards to take pictures of the leak. (see pictures)

So where does that little hose draw coolant to? How do I even get in there? Have any of you changed it? And most importantly, is it a dealer only item? Thanks in advance.

Hmm, don't think I've ever replaced one right there... and I have replaced a few, maybe I will go search for that one in a few, but for hoses you can pretty much buy a hose from any local shop, just measure the inner diameter of the hose and get the same strength hose as the one you're replacing, also you can order hoses online from siliconeintakes, I was sent there by someone here and saved a ton of money on hoses.

The silicone tubing and couplers are not intended for coolant of oil lines! Do NOT try it.


The hoses you're looking at are used to prevent the throttle body and ISCV from freezing up (and NO, it doesn't have to be very cold out for this to happen). You may replace them with straight 3/8" (9mm) coolant hose but the stock lines wrap around a lot of crap so be careful to avoid kinking the hoses or putting them in in such a way that they may rub (good luck. ;) ).

silicone intakes has coolant and oil hard lines, you just have to look around the site, but yeah use the right hose for the right job.

whats funny is, right after i said ive never had to replace that mine broke, which made me find this info

How did you end up getting in there? I'm lucky enough to have arms skinny enough to reach in and take pictures, but what did you end up removing?
