Hey Supra Foe!

Just a question about the 1G motor...

what is this device (i think it is a stock dump valve) and im asking of i can simply block it off with a plate and bypass it totally. It is located on the right hand stock pipe that leads to the FMIC. The reason is that im getten a major dropp in boost and then it picks up again. I think this could be the cause.. it allowes it to hold 12 but not 14 all the way through. See attached dyno sheet for that info on loos of bost.

and he dyno sheet http://users.tpg.com.au/fgiglio/DSC00354.JPG

it looks like the idle speed control to me .

On my 7MGE that part is the Idle Speed Control Valve. If that is what you have there and it sure looks like it, You can't run the engine without it. I controls Idle when the A/C is on and probably the cold start idle too. But since your engine is different, I may be wrong. Hopefully others with that engine will reply.

yep.. 1ggte idle speed control

keep it lol

by the looks of that dyno you seem to have a boost leak
not holding boost.. falling off... excessive richness in fuel

check all your intercooler pipes

and congrats on the power... what mods have you done?

the 1ggte didn't come stock with a bov... you may want to install one at some stage but also bear in mind that the 1ggte is air flow metered so you will have to adjust the bov so you don't stall when boosting then suddenly coming to a stop etc

hth :)

THanks so far... the boost is annoying lost power

Hey thanks so far... ive already fixed a fair few leaks and i noticed a leak comin out of this unit...

looks like it must stay...

i already got a HSK SS BOV, HKS intake and HKS exhast...

stock reco turbos.. thats bout it

Im thinking the manual controller doesnt hold the boost...

i might need an electric Booost controller to fix that..

or just use that $$ for a Full ECU. Not sure

Any 1 done aftermarket ECU with thses?

Thanks in advance!

Eratic boost is common on manual boost controllers, all they are is a controlled boost leak, I had an article somewhere on them, but if you want the perfect flat curve of stock, but with more boost, you'll have to go electric...

I beg to differ with the last post. If you use a well-designed MBC you will not have any problems with "erratic boost". The best MBC out now is the Hallman ProRX.

http://www.hallmanboostcontroller.com/

Be sure to get the one with the ceramic ball. Your turbo will spool faster than with most EBC's. This unit is well-known in the Mitsubishi EVO community as the way to go. Even guys running low 10's in the 1/4 mile with full stand alone engine management use the Hallman.

Have you boost leak tested your car? I built a unit from some PVC pipe and a valve stem (like in your wheels). Just put this in your intake, hook up an air compressor, and pump some air in. If there are any leaks they will be clearly audible hissing noises ( so this in a quiet place as some smaller leaks are fairly quiet).

Good luck!
