Timing/CPS = ?No start?
Sorry Cre, didn't realize I was posting in the FAQ before. So I made my question on the appropriate section..
Quote:
Can the CPS cause a no start if it is not lined up as shown above?? To dive into more detail to the no start I am talking about. I mean cause it to do everything except turn over.. you know.. That point when your car is trying and trying and trying to kick over but, just keeps trying.. Ends up with nothing.. That moment right before starting.. Again, CAN the CPS not being lined up as shown above cause it to not turn over..? |
The CPS being out of alignment can cause the vehicle to not spark in time. If the spark happens too early or too late, it will cause the vehicle to not fire. If by "turning over" you mean not firing, then yes, the cps can cause that. If by "turning over" you mean not spinning the engine at all, then no, it can't.

cps issue
I found on my car even with the crank shaft pulley and cam shaft pulleys aligned up my car would not start correctly.
I played around with the CPS and still nothing. I then discovered by using a strobe light that my timing was out by about 180 degrees....... and by turning the cps the starting and idling became better. To cut a long story short. The previous owner had removed and dismantled the CPS and put it back together incorrectly. One of the bits inside (cant remember what it was called) was back to front..... ie 180 degrees out. So, try messing with CPS and make sure it is aligned and set correctly. Cheers |
