Need Rack and Pinion steering unit
 

Hi,

Genius noticed a very small leak in the power steering pump. Then had the pump rebuilt with new seals. What Genius did not figure out was the rack in pinion steering unit was old and blew out from the pressure of the rebuilt pump.:rolleyes2 A lack of pressure then blew the newly rebuilt pump.:eek:

The Toyota dealer is having trouble finding a new one. Where can I find a new one? They can get the power steering pump. 1986 MK 3 JT2MA70JOG0027471

Genius found a rebuilt one using Google-fu but does anyone know what the tire size should be? I have 16" rims from a newer model but the speedometer reads 5 miles an hour too fast. Could the car have come with 17" rims? The stickers are gone from the door frames.
Oh back to the steering unit, how good are rebuilts? Can I get a better unit than stock?
