Default Stuck!

Hey Ya'll,

I recently got a 87 supra turboed with a blown head gasket. I started working on it and everything is out of the way of the engine and I cannot get the transmission to let go of the engine. I can get a gap between the motor and tansmission of probably and inch but then itll just slide back together. A friend told me to make sure the clutch is engaged. Also the manual directions have beenfollowed to a t. Anybody got any ideas please help.

thanks
