Heater Core R&R

Anyone point me to a thread (if one exists) regarding the Heater core R&R? It books out as a 9 hour job and I dont feel like paying 900.00+ to fix it.
Guessing I have to basically remove the entire dash to get to it, but wondered if anyone has done this and has a thread with little tips to make it go smoother.

Thanks!

I have the actual TSRM for a 90 Supra. I didnt see it in the online version of the MKIII TSRM so I actually didnt even look for it in the printed version. It may be there as the book is quite thick. As for the Haynes manual, I cant find one.. lol. (not in Canada anyway) The ones we have here is a different company that puts them out and they suck. Supposedly you can strip the car down to the frame and rebuild it, but I dare someone to try using the manuals they sell up here... I actually would like to find a Chilton's Manual. I find them to be the most accurate.

I just figured that there must be something tricky if they clock it out at 9 hours for the R&R. If it takes a trained mechanic 9 hours.. it will probalby take me 40..lol

It tells you how to remove the "safety pad" aka dash in the manual. Once you make it that far it should be fairly easy to do the heater core.

thats the hardest part for me is trying not to break the plastic covers that the heater core and blower motor sits in...

lol im in canada and i got 2 haynes manuals for the supras.

i think i seen a manual for just the 82-86 celica supra thats one i really need.
the haynes manual covers all years... its impossible to assume what is what in that book. and really, the turbo charger system information in the haynes blows...
