doing a 7mgte swap, have a few questions

what would be the best oil to break my engine in the firt 500 miles? next 2000 miles? how much transmission fluid do I need? what would be the best kind?

Im not going to be using the egr system, what do I do with the vsv and vaccuum lines that go under the intake to the p.s. pump? Also will it mess with the ECU?

And last the wiring harness, I notice there are a set of plugs that go under the intake side inbetween the intake manifold where do they go? I couldn't find any ports to plug them in. ill post pics of the plugs in a bit.

Thanks for your inputs.

Get a JDM ECU.

Conga1991 07-06-2010 12:03 AM

for what? not using the egr

cre 07-06-2010 12:26 AM

Yup. Or add a fuel controller, run open loop full time and tune the engine to run a little richer at cruise.

Conga1991 07-06-2010 02:10 AM

what you said was a bunch of giberish. also on the ecu I have it has a plug coming out, what plugs into it? I couldnt find a port for it to go into. (I have a 88 NA body and the Motor is a 87 7mgte same as the M/T ECU)

Gibberish?

What Cre says is never Gibberish, but I understand how you feel. I have to do research sometimes to keep up with Cre. You have to read what he says and then race to catch up by reading info about what he is trying to tell you. Cre has told me things that overload my capacity of knowledge and then I do keyword searches and research terms and functions to understand what he is telling me. You have to do some of the work yourself to learn the abbreviations and the systems he is talking about. Upload a pic of the areas you have questions about so we can see what you are talking about. This is the easiest way.

The pigtail coming out of the pre89 GTE TCCS (ECU) is for the HAC sensor (High Altitude Compensation)... it's essentially a clumsy MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor which is used to help adjust fueling when there are significant changes in air pressure. You can run without one if you live at sealevel... if you live at a higher altitude you'll be fine too as long as your dialy driving doesn't involve a lot of changes in altitude, but you will be running richer than you need to and your gas mileage will suffer a bit.

I don't to gibberish....

....except for when I do. ;)

Green7mgte 07-06-2010 03:58 PM

there wasn't even any abbreviations in that post he was talking about.. just didn't understand what open loop meant.

Grandavi 07-06-2010 04:07 PM

lol.. when asking for help on a forum.. be very careful how you word your responses. Accusing someone like CRE of spouting gibberish the way you did could have hit him on a bad day. YOu dont want the helpful people choosing to ignore you
:)

Haha, I just figured this was ANOTHER deleting EGR thread and CRE thought "F@$% this, I'm tired of explaining it"

OP, do a search on the forum. In fact, just look at threads from the past week. I'm pretty sure there are about 5 threads talking about deleting the EGR system, why it's dumb to do it, and how to do it if you still insist on doing it.

BTW, anyone else thinks it's funny how we all defend and practically worship a guy we've never met? Is someone starting a new religion/cult on here.... ?:eek3:

Guy?? ? sheesh, well at least you got the first letter right...

yeah, you're right though, it's very weird.

the koolaid is almost ready, BTW. ;)

there are worse things than deleting the EGR, but it's not worth doing without a good reason and is too widely encouraged by the ignorant masses.on some cars it makes a much bigger difference too.

I'm not the end-all of auto knowledge either. I'm ignorant of much, just know how to find the answer s and good at knowing what questions to ask. If you want brillianttalk to jetjock, jdub, ij. and others from supramania.com.... read some stuff by corky bell.

The Shrine

Actually I worship all you guys that have helped me and all the others on other forums I am getting answers from. Bad advice or good, it's the fact that anyone would take their time to try and help in this crazy selfish world is a GEM that goes for 907, Cre and the rest of this Merry band of Brothers and Sisters. In my opinion all of you are Robin Hoods, you give us the wealth of fixing a problem ourselves rather than giving our limited monies in this disaster of an economy to the auto repair bandits, that at times can be less than honest.

I am realizing that Cres advice is probably dead on with my car. I stopped at the radiator repair and spoke with someone I have been dealing with for a long time. I described my symptoms and he thinks my radiator is clogged or blocked somewhat. He said $75 for a cleaning and check out of the radiator.

I am running fine in the 100 degree heat without my AC but with the AC on, my car is still climbing into the hi temps and returns after AC is shut down. I am going to swap my radiators from my Black Supra to my Red one and see if this fixes it though my Black one has set for years as well. If this doesn't fix it it will be time to buy a new radiator. Don't see any point to having an old radiator cleaned for $75 if I can get a new one for a little more. Time to call Auto Zone or look on ebay.

Grandavi 07-06-2010 11:27 PM

no worship.. just common courtesy..

I wouldnt invite a person over to help me with my car and then tell him he made no sense. I also would offer beer!

Not slamming the OP, just pointing it out that if you make a comment like that, you may turn off the guy who would have had exactly the answer (or girl) that you were looking for. Words dont carry body language.

Again.. common courtesy (and on a forum its even more important)
