And yes, it has the OEM heat shield around the turbo.

If it started after you changed your thermostat I would think you have air in your cooling system. Time to Burp it.

agreed with batmmannn

its manditory that after flush, keep rad cap off and idle car until at operation temp and even keep going for another 15-20 mins.
this should remove air in the system.

think the term would be vapor lock. my buddie just did that to his truck but aparently he ruined his heater core, and still has not fixed his overheating problem.
