Are after market cam gear worth the cost on the 7MGTE. Or should I spend the money on something more worth while? How much power do you get with adjustable cam gears.

That would probably be one of the last things to add/do for increase in HP. Need dyno to set them up for maximum performance (value for your $$).

Tru dat, seen pretty low numbers for adjusting them, definately one of the last things to do, as once it's really tuned, it might make a bigger difference...

Please check out this thread on EvolutionM forums for the scoop on adjustable cam gears.

This is on a mildly tuned turbo 4G63 engine with big cams. I bet that similar results will hold true with a turbo 7M, 1JZ, or 2JZ. Results will be less noticeable I believe on a NA car.

As you see, the cam gears don't really make much more total power (torque) per se, they just move the power curve up and down the RPM range.

You may find one setting that gives you quicker spool and more midrange punch; good for the streets. There may be another setting that gives max high RPM power that you could use for drag racing.

Good luck,
