This is my first supra so I'm still learning. This forum has given me alot info already, but is this normal for a felpro HG to partially cover this hole? Is there something I can do about it, or just not worry?

Had to do all this work cause the guy I bought it from didnt know what he was doing, now I have to REALLY clean and lap the block.:frown: This "lump" caused #6 cylinder to be 22psi lower than the rest. The head seems to be ok, but still gunna take it to the machine shop to be sure.

Thanks in advanced.

Hmmmm

In that pic I see a depressed area, is that the low spot? Anyway, this is a good time to ask a question I had on this topic. When taking a head to the machine shop on high milage car what do you do and not do to it in order for it not to cause later ring failure? I have heard of people having their heads redone and then the changes somehow cause the rings to go.

The idea is that if you get the head redone as far as with the valves and valve sets it will restore compression. The higher restored compression is what is said to cause the bottom end to go out.

No, it is a raised spot, I'm gunna have to work it done gently so that i dont create a low spot.

to be honist you should throw away the felpro.. look around on-line and pick up an HKS metal HG... i picked one up for mine only $101.93 after taxes. as of bottom end engine problem after BHG repair... the biggest isue is timing... incorrect timing can cause alot of stress on old bearings and seals. P.S... remember the modified spec for the head bolts is 74 foot pounds of torque.
