she's just about ready for the road once again , only now she is a totally green racing machine

156 volts, 1000 amp controller , estimated 270 hp
going to be a little difficult to find a dyno shop to test it

This is such a cool project. I really can't wait to see what some of the results are, both on the dyno and real world. How do you think this affected the balance of the car? Did this add any weight or reduce it all?

I'd ask how much the whole project cost but I'd probably cry.

GREAT JOB!!

Instant Torque is nice. How long can it go on a charge or is it just for a few runs down the track at a time? And how much weight does that add?

Electric Supra

I take it this is not a hybrid set up? Is there a build thread on this? Looks cool.

100& pure electric

she weighs 3930 lbs
I am very pleased with the range I am getting with the cheapest batteries I could find.
I'm using 13 group 31 deep cycle marine batteries. I went with cheap ones for my first set because odds are that I will wreck a battery or two from lack of experience. I would cry if I killed a $250 battery , these batteries cost $100 each. At some point I will have lithium and the game will change.

The torque is great. I am hoping to kick some ass at the next electric car race event http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WvYNH8cg8I

I put in about 10k , there are very few moving parts to an electric motor(only 1). this will greatly reduce wrench time , if you know what I mean and I'm sure you do. We're talking about a motor that has the potential to drive my Supra for millions of miles instead of thousands.

She's my daily driver and I don't even look at the gas gauge, temperature or Oil, boost nada.

here's the build page:

I have a friend that patented a way of getting (umm.. Im not him... so let me see if I can explain it) 1 HP using 1/4 the electricity previously thought as the min requirement. (again.. I am not the engineer.. just the delivery guy.. lol)

I wonder if the technology could be merged with what you are doing. I could PM you his email if you want to try to contact him (if interested).

I dont truly understand it, but according to our discussions, it would enable a person to build a car that could do 1000 miles fairly easy.. but I have no idea on the tech specs.
