Heat Shield For N/A
 

This is the second and more improved heat shield I made to keep the hot engine bay air away from the k&n air intake I have Installed. It is made of aluminum sheet metal, zip ties and rubber hose. The afm is attached to it so the air flows through the shield. It allowed me to remove the braces for the afm since the shield fits so well. And as far as result go it seems to be making a big difference. Just on feel of the air temp I can notice a difference after a drive.

That looks really good man. i would like to make something like that for my car. you have any tips or anything? like what you bought and how big it has to be and what not on it? and again good work man

I used posterboard to get a good shape of how to cut the metal sheet. The first one I made wasn't very close at the top(hood) so I used playdough to make the second one to get a closer fit. Put the playdough on top of the first shield and then closed the hood.It worked good to show the gap. It all just takes a little thinking and playing along with a dremel, drill, and tin snips. It seems to be a pretty good fit now.

alright man. it looks good and those tips should help me. i mean mine is a turbo but the concept should be about the same so yeah haha.

i was thinking of doing the same...using sheet metal covered with aluminum foil lol

I used aluminum sheet. You could use steel but it will be much heavier and harder to cut and drill.
