just picked up an 87 7MGTE. i heard that one of the niggest flaws of the mkiii supra is the head gasket. my car only has 75000 miles. do any of you suggest changing the head gasket, or it it fine for the time being?

Well if you bought JUST the engine and are planning on putting into another car. While you have it out, I'd change the head gasket, timing belt, tensioner, and water pump. Plus any other cheap fix that is easier to do when the motor is out of the car.

It's all stuff I'd do anyway. Cause if you have no records, you don't know how old anything is.

One thing I check and replace when I build a motor is the damned coolent hoses on the back of the head. I had two blow on the same car. Cheap fix and sucks when they blow doing 70 down the road.

Yeah you should be fine. As long as you're not over heating or blowing coolant out the overflow tank.

Just do a good check over. Hoses, Spark Plugs, Wires, Filters etc.... Check all the vacuum hoses for leaks. Anything rubber check to see if it's about to or has already cracked. Hard rubber hoses replace them.
