headlights wont turn off after swap
 

well i just did my gte 5 speed swap, into my 89, and now for some reason my head lights will not go off, even when they go down. the runners and inside light will go off, just not the lights. i am also getting not tach reading. i belive i used a pre 89 engine wiring harness, but i did not touch the engine harness. i have no clue what is goin on.

not sure what you did with the lights, but your tac. will not work. you will have to replace the cluster or run an aftermarket one, you can get the signal from the little plug on the side of the diagnostic box

see thats the thing, all i did was wap engine harness, i didnt touch the lights, its really weired,

and i do have all of the gauges for the turbo engine, just no the cluster that holds them, if i install them will i get a tach reading

the difference is in the dash harness, you need to trace the black wire from the coil packs to where it meets the dash harness and see what color the wire switches to and run that wire to the tach

well the head lights are a ground switch, so you mush have pinched a wire or grounded 1 out wile doing the swap. first place to check would be by the battery. check for a frayed harness.
