Titan Motorsports, HKS, Greddy...they all have proven themselves in racing, they all will most likely be just as good as another, but the prep work on the head and block are what's REALLY important.

im lookinf for specific good/bad experiances. even info on the new toyota HG.

i installed a new toyota dealer gasket in my rig when i first got it 2 yrs ago... i was poor at the time and wasnt planning on running alot of boost. i just bought the car and it had a bhg and i just wanted to make it run first. anyways i run 12 psi all day on the stock gasket for the last 2 years, no worries yet. probably will blow once i hit 15 psi but thats ok w. me i want to redo it all and port and polish the head this time around anyways..

how much boost will the stick ingine handle, with a better HG of course.

Poodles 08-29-2005 06:56 AM

hmmm... I forgot, but the stock turbo will only push 15psi if I remember right. That's good for over 300hp at the wheels....

yeaaah supra 09-02-2005 03:02 AM

15 psi stock? i heard somewhere it was only 6.8, or is that with upgrades in the stock housing?

Guest 09-02-2005 05:56 AM

mine was 6psi stock i run new toyo stock gasket at 12 psi for 2 yrs so far , now im at 14 and so far so good.. but i got my mods to flow it all could not get turbo past 11 psi till i changed the exhaust out to 2.5 and couldnt get to 14 without a fcd. my turbo itself is all stock.. fun fun

sorry, didn't quite word that right, but the stock turbo will push that much with a turbo controller. Not saying the HG or the fuel cut won't kick in below that though ;)

Basicly, turbo upgrade is only good in my opinion once you get your head gasket, fuel delivery, intake, and exhaust situation sorted, as the turbo isn't the weakest link. Once you get to the point where you need more than the stock turbo...go ahead and sink the money into an upgrade...

My supra deserves the best!

hello... I'm a new member but I know supras VERY well. Stock the supra runs 6.9 lbs of boost @ approximately 230hp . I'm not saying everyones car is the same, but that's how much toyota gave them. On my 88 supra turbo I bought the HKS metal head gasket from Suprasport. http://www.suprasport.com/product.as...id=96&catid=63 . I also figured that buying ARP head studs from suprasport would be a good investment considering how much the stock head bolts "twist". http://www.suprasport.com/product.as...id=91&catid=63
My ARP head studs are torqued down to 72lbs. I decided after 1000 miles after my head gasket job to see how well the head studs were holding up, every single one was still at 72lbs!

I have a shimmed wastegate, approximately 4 millimeters of shim, which brought me right around 13lbs of boost, along with a k&n intake and exhaust. For every 1mm of shim you can expect approximately 11-14 hp depending on supporting mods. My Supra has never been on a dyno, but I know it has somewhere around 300 hp and we are no where near finnished! Next mods to come are a manual transmission and a hard pipe kit for the InterCooler which will drop the turbo about 3lbs on the stock IC. Anyhow I wish you all the best of luck! See you on the streets!
