Intercooler

Does anyone know a good intercooler that is compatable with 1990 supra turbo, cuz the one i have has input and output on opposite sides of intercooler. i think i need one that has input and output on same side of intercooler. anyone know a good aftermarket one?

There are plenty of side inlet IC's out there like this one: Siliconeintakes' side inlet/outlet. You'll need to use a couple angled couplers, but they work fine. Otherwise, for a direct fit, you can look for a "Spearco" replica IC... I think Horsepowerfreaks.com carries them.... but anything but a generic universal is EXPENSIVE.

I would search around and ask on acouple different forums the precise question you need answered..

I have a ebay universal IC. what piping route did you use. did you have to CUT anywhere? Ive seen pics of aftermarket ic's were it would normally connect to the 3000 pipe connect to the front engine facing side of the intake manifold. whats up with that? howd you make that work? whats the upsided.. I would like to know these answers also.

post if you find any results.. good luck

I talked ot a guy who said he ran the hot air side from bottom of turbo to the driver side of universal ic with a 180 degree bend to meet ic input, then ran the cool air side back through stock location to the 3000 pipe would that be a good idea?

if the 180 degree bend is the only way.. whats the downfall to it? not enough room? low clearance?
if it works go for it. seems like thats the only way.

yeah thats the only way i can see, ill try it and post how t works, im just a little worried about that bend causing a high pressure spot and popping one of the connectors off the piping cuz it will have to be a sharp 180 degree bend

It's a VERY common setup, don't worry about it too much, but get piped with rolled beads for the 180 at least.

Ok thanks guys, now i am on a very tight budget(but arnt we all lol) what kind of pipe should i use for the ic plumbing? i have a bunch of random peices of what looks like chrome but im no sure what the acctual metal is, I dont want to use any kind of plastic either. thamks

aluminum is the standard piping used for aftermarket IC's. you could opt for using the same "soft" piping that comes stock with your car. probably cheaper and just as reliable while maintaining that "stock" appearance
