When replacing the head gasket with a mhg, exactly how clean does the block surface need to be? The head gasket never blew or anything, and everything looks beautiful (the motor only had 80,000 miles.) i just wanted to be safe.

any picture examples would be great.

Pictures can't explain it. It really needs to be in better shape than the factory finish though: No warping, no pitting and an RA of 30 or less depending on the MHG.
