Default idle at 2k! help!

Hey, just recently my power steering went out! I replaced it with a new one but now I have a new problem: VERY HIGH IDLE!!

My car will NOT go lower then 2k RPM when its cold or when its warmed up. I replaced the ISC valve with a used one in good condition. it worked for awhile but after about 10 miles of driving i put it in neutral and it started to idle at 1.8k RPM.

anyone have any suggestions?

dont know if this makes a difference but its a 7mgte 91

oh i just thought of something, this problem happened when i started playin with my A/C button. It never worked since i bought the car but for some weird reason i decided to push it. and when i pushed it it started to idle high. i pushed it again and it still idled high, anyone know if it makes a difference?

There is a screw by your throttle body that you need to adjust. Take a look at your throttle linkage and you'll see what screw does it. Or it could be something else.

it looks like a regular screw on ur throttlebody. if this helps, its a Flathead Screw, look from the front of your car @ ur throttlebody and youll see it,

another good tip, buy urself a repair manual from you local parts store, i have Hanes 1985? - 1992 Celica Supra, helped me quite a bit, its based on a complete takedown and replacement of the car, covers engine, brakes, electronics, body panels (re&re-ing them) and a ton of other stuff, good buy for like 20$

Wink

The ECU raises the idle when the AC button is in the on position. Since your ac compressor is not running (to load the engine and lower the idle), then the idle will stay high.

Since you don't use the ac, try to get that ac button to turn off, or pull it out of the dash and unplug the harness to it.

Also, the power steering has a vacuum line to a valve on the back of the pump. This is to raise the rpm when turning during idle (parking lots, driveways, etc). You may have not hooked it back up, thus creating a vacuum leak, which will cause the engine to idle high.

Dont move the screw on the thorttle body, unless someone messed around with it, it should be set. Do what Mr.Mickenly said.

hey supra mk3 my 89 turbo is doing the exact same thing with the idle... it comes down sometimes after a quick off and on after worm up but other than that its exactly at 1800rpm in park or nuetral and about 12000 in gear. I just bought tune up parts like belts plugs filters ect... the car runs great other than that with 164000mi. so hit let me know some of the things you did if you solved it.
