Should i get it?

Hello, im writing this because im new to cars and am currently looking to buy my first car which, depending on the replies here, might be a 87 supra non turbo. The car is in great condition if the pics are to be believed and only needs a tune up. the thing that worries me is the car has 180k miles on it. The car is being sold for $2000 so i figured id ask you nice gents if you think its a good deal. Blue cloth interior 5 speed manual with a clean carfax. I desperately need a car and do prefer manuals so any feedback helps!

I don't know about the price, but my 1986.5 Supra still ran like a charm at 300,000 miles. I don't think that the mileage will be a problem. However, I am kind of a Supra noob, so I would get some more insight before purchasing it.

Although supras are reliable as most cars made by Toyota are, you are still look at an old car with fairly high mileage which is not always the cheapest to maintain. Although the car can run till 200k plus, it’s the little things that will drive you crazy. Also be prepared to buy some snow tires for the winter as it is a rear wheel drive car, probably without a limited slip diff because it is N/A. And then there is the big head gasket thing which is a pain. They are fun to drive, but then again my Celica 6spd is too while gets an average of 27mpg which is way higher than the supra gets.

Unless you know a very good deal about working on cars yourself (and I don't mean just filling the washer fluid and changing the oil) OR you have and are willing to spend a lot of money on repairs I would NOT recommend the Supra as a first car.

They're old cars, they tend to have been beaten on by at least one of the previous owners, parts are not cheap, they are a little temperamental.

Now with that said, they're a blast (probably why so many of them are crushed each year after some kid who just got it as his first car wrapped it around a tree; no offense intended, but it's already happened to a couple 'kids' I know of this year). They have a lot of potential, but the demand a good deal of attention and respect.

And a clean Carfax report means NOTHING. My car's report was clean... the car's been in at least two wrecks and one was very severe.... I was fighting with some of the remaining damage today while swapping bumpers actually... I shoulda left the old split one on.
