MK III turbo clutch setup question.

Hey, just curious because I know I don't keep up with any changes made. But on the turbo supra's, it's a pull type clutch setup, using a release bearing hub and bearing itself with the R154 trans. Is there a way to modify the set up so it uses a push type clutch, like on the w58 trans, so we can delete the release hub? Only reason I ask is I just sheared mine in half in the middle of a race, and I don't like the idea of it happening again. If not, it's no biggy, as i have another one on order, but i'd like to have options in the future. Thanks for the help guys!

Your best bet is to go to Marlin Crawler web site and get the upgrades for the R154 to make it more stronger. The upgrades will more likely solve your problem.

A stock R154 will hold a very large amount of power. Most people get by at high HP without even a stock rebuild. Marlin Crawler does make a beefy R154, but some components (such as the one in question) are still regular OEM parts.

I really doubt it'd be worth the cost to re-engineer... unless you've got a fabrication shop at your disposal.

To cre, man don't i wish I had access to a fab shop. But alas, looks like i'll have to stick with the OEM hub. Maybe I finally killed it since it was the original hub that first came in the car. Who knows.

But yeah, I'm going to rebuild the trans with marlin parts from driftmotion. Ordered them with the new hub. Figured i should do everything while I have it out so I'm not takin it back apart in a few months. Thanks for the help guys.

Well, when you do get that fab shop built in your back yard gimme a shout... I'm coming over.

P.S. - I hope you have a comfy couch... I'm gonna be staying a while. ;)

Hahaha, you and everyone else I seem to know cre. I'm off to go pull my tranny apart in prep for rebuild. This should be fun.
