Purchasing an MKiii

Hello everyone, I am new here to this forum, and I was looking for a bit of help. I am interested in purchasing an MKiii Supra that is for sale in my area. here is the craigslist (http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...543141240.html)

I am wondering what sort of things should I look for and ask about? anything specific to the MKiii that I should know before purchasing? Thank you for the help.

Sorry, man. Unfortunately, that is not a legitimate ad. I saw the same exact thing on the Dallas Craigslist last night. It looks like it has already been removed, though.

Definitely a fake ad.... The real Supra is listed in autotrader.com in Ventura, CA.

If you want to check it out, here's the autotrader link.

just something I've noticed over my months browsing cars on CL... if the add seems like a good, great or even unbelievable deal.. it probably is, there's probably SOME reason for it somewhwere... IF the entire ad is a single jpg, it's undoubtedly a scam. The ad is stored as a jpg so as many ads can be created in as many regions as possible. Since the ads don't last very long, it would be impracticle or even a waste of time to type out and create the ad each time. By making a jpg of their ad, they're able to create several ad's before CL flag's one..

Also advisable to know the area and surroundings for the vehicle you're looking for/at... example: I live in Las Vegas... if I see a car on CL covered in snow or in a really woodsy area, I'm highly suspect that it's a scam as none of the terrain around Las Vegas resembles such without driving 30 miles into the mountains.. Finally, if possible, license plates help give an idea where the vehicle might have actually been at time of photo.

Granted, cars are transportable... but odds are still greater that images of the car are more likely to be from the home town, near (if not at) the owner's home.. seldomly might a car be photographed away from her home town.

It's for things like this that I put up a poll about creating a section for alerting others about these scams when we see them... I just don't know if anyone will really contribute or even read it. If anyone's interested in adding a group that hasn't voted head to the feedback section and post up in the thread I made there.

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum...

I just bought the real supra in those ads from Ventura. I fell for those ads too on craigslist, but upon further investigation found the real car and just bought it, because it is hard to find a clean MK3. I used to own one 10 years ago, than I got a WRX sold it and now I'm back!
