Need some advice where to get a motor

i live in san jose california and my 89 7mge supra threw a rod, im trying to replace the motor the cheapest way i can so that i can drive the car. Where is the best place to buy a used/refurbished jdm engine around here, for cheap!?

ebay got em for 520+shipping
but cant a jdm distrubitor around here do it for cheaper?

thanks for your time

Fair warning, with a JDM import you're basically throwing the dice on whether it's going to be in good enough shape to just throw in your car and hit the ignition. You might get lucky and get one that just needs some gaskets and stuff to get into running shape, or you might well end up having a piece of junk which was allowed to sit in the rain on a dock somewhere and would have to be rebuilt to be any good to you. It happens.

Final observations and a paraphrase from people who've been there and done that... cheap parts tend to not be nice, and nice parts are rarely cheap. Supra's aren't the car for you if cheap is the most important factor. But if JDM's are what you want, I'd check the internet at large and ask around for references from people on the forums who have done business with them.
